Wonderful Woodland for Finn from Night Owl Quilting

This is the 3rd baby quilt I made for my first grandchild.  Kyla and Reed had settled on a Woodland theme and didn't know if they were having a boy or girl.  They loved the Art East Wonderful Woodland pattern and I was happy to have an excuse to make this pattern as I have quilted many for others.  I did make one change to the pattern....

Kyla was able to go shopping with me and selected this lovely blue Northcott Canvas fabric for background.  I did a little shopping at a few of my favorite stores to augment ...

Teddy Bear's Picnic from Night Owl Quilting

Karen made this darling quilt she is calling "Teddy Bear's Picnic."  The bear blocks are from the pattern Bjorn Bear by Elizabeth Hartman and Karen added her own trees,  and the cute paper pieced picnic table from Pitcher's Boutique.

The plaid backing is perfect for the theme.  This quilt is for Karen's first grandchild and she said the blue glasses represent her husband and that she is always wearing sunglasses. Karen decided on my freehand woodgrain quilting design.  It is one of my favorite things to quilt and I love being able to avoid stitching through eyeballs ...

Cindy's Wonderful Woodland from Night Owl Quilting

Cindy made this fabulous Wonderful Woodland quilt as a gift for a baby that will be arriving soon to friends in Japan.  What a perfect choice to send a little bit of Canada over to a new baby from its "Canadian Grandma".

I did my freehand woodgrain quilting pattern as I love the texture it adds and I like to plan my stitchhing path to avoid stitching through any cute little eyeballs!

Cindy chose a lovely grey fireside for the backing and this is a super sweet and cuddly quilt.

I also had the opportunity to quilt up this stunning ...

Wonderful Woodland from Night Owl Quilting

This is Loraine's version of the Wonderful Woodland quilt by Art East Quilt Company.  Loraine picked up this kit from Keystone Modern Creative, and it is still available if you need to make one for yourself.

I suggested adding my freehand woodgrain quilting to finish this one off and Loraine agreed.  It is my favorite quilting design for patterns such as this.

Wonderful Woodland for Baby from Night Owl Quilting

Reneta made this darling baby quilt using some of the blocks from the Wonderful Woodland pattern by Art East Quilt Company.  You can see Reneta's original full quilt with all the blocks here.

Reneta requested my freehand woodgrain quilting which is one of my favorite things to do.  I am having trouble deciding on my favourite block!  The blue raccoons are pretty special though.

Fancy Forest from Night Owl Quilting

I think this is the 4th Fancy Forest quilt that I have quilted for Reneta.  This one is extra special though.   It has lovingly been made for Reneta's first grandchild set to arrive any day.  Reneta dug into her Ombre Confetti fabric that she had been saving for just the right occasion.

Reneta always requests my freehand woodgrain quilting for this pattern, and I never get tired of the finished look.  I love all these cute animals, and check out the minky added to the bunny ears!

Sherry's Fancy Foxes from Night Owl Quilting

Sherry sent this fantastic little quilt that she made with the fox blocks from Elizabeth Hartman's Fancy Fox pattern.   As with most of the of the fox quilts that have come into my studio the request was for my freehand woodgrain quilting.

I love how inventive Sherry was with the layout.  Sherry has also wowed me with her ability to mix and match unexpected fabrics effortlessly.  It is a bit hard to see in the photos, but the grey background fabric is a botanical print..  There are larger leaves at the top and smaller denser leaves at the bottom ...

A Pair of Bjorn Bear Quilts from Night Owl Quilting

Reneta used Elizabeth Hartman's Bjorn Bear pattern  and adapted it to make these two sweet baby quilts.  She requested my freehand woodgrain pattern and I think they turned out just great.  Reneta requested that I quilt over the appliqued name as well.

Panel Quilt from Night Owl Quilting

This quilt was made by Christine from a kit she purchased a number of years ago from a shop in Alaska.  I have to say that is might be the nicest use of panels that I have ever seen.

We decided on my free hand wood grain design and I used a mid green coloured So Fine thread.

The interesting framing of the squares and the simple and yet effective border really make this a lovely quilt.

Wonderful Woodland from Night Owl Quilting

Those mischievous raccoons are my favorite block in the Wonderful Woodlands quilt that Reneta sent for quilting.  The pattern is by Art East Quilting Company.   I just love all these Canadian animals.

Reneta requested all over woodgrain quilting and I was happy to oblige.  I find it to be a very relaxing pattern to quilt out, and I love the final result.  It adds an nice texture and density of quilting but doesn't take away from the animals.

I might just need to make on of these quilts for myself!

Forest Critter Baby Quilt Mashup from Night Owl Quilting

This is another fabulous forest critter baby quilt made by Reneta.  Reneta combined blocks from two of her favorite designers to come up with this unique layout.

The bear, the moose and the leaves are from Art East Quilt Company's Wonderful Woodland block series.

The foxes and bunnies are from Elizabeth Hartman's Fancy Forest quilt pattern.

As usual I played only a small part in this quilt by adding the wood grain quilting.  I must say woodgrain has become one of my favorite designs to quilt out.

Fancy Forest Baby Quilt from Night Owl Quilting

I believe this is the third Fancy Forest quilt that I have quilted for Reneta.  The pattern is by Elizabeth Hartman.  Reneta loves how wood grain quilting looks on this pattern so that is always her request.  I love it too,  so am always happy to oblige.

Changing the colors really gives a different feel to the quilt.  You can see Reneta's other versions here and here.
